Starting salary £52,369pa with progression to £55,734pa through annual increments subject to satisfactory service (inclusive of outer fringe allowance)
Permanent contract
37 hours per week (hybrid working)
We’re looking for a proactive and enthusiastic officer to lead the Environmental Protection team which typically covers statutory nuisance, air quality and contaminated land functions. You will already hold a similar post in an existing Local Authority setting or are ready for the next step in your environmental health career.

Key responsibilities:
- You will support the Environmental Health Manager in the delivery of this area of specialism and you will also undertake proactive and reactive work, responding to a range of service requests.
- As Team Leader, you will provide technical support to the team and also have line management responsibility, ensuring that all service objectives, targets and service levels are understood, monitored and performed by team members.
- You will work in collaboration with other services, and senior management to ensure that services are joined up appropriately and are aligned to the achievement of the Council’s aims and objectives.
What We’re Looking For:
We’re seeking an enthusiastic and capable professional with proven experience in service delivery. A track record of seeing complex cases through to conclusion and seeking service improvements. You’ll bring excellent technical knowledge, a passion for your service area with excellent time management skills and an innovative approach.
This is a high-impact role at the heart of a prominent public-facing service, offering the opportunity to shape standards across the borough.
The role is hybrid with the expectation of attending the office 2 to 3 days per week. This will be more frequent during your training period. The role also includes occasional working outside of normal office hours.
You will need a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
