Starting salary £40,689 with potential progression to £43,690 on achieving designated skills and experience 

37 hours per week (hybrid working)

Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council is seeking a knowledgeable, motivated Strategy and Policy Officer to join the Transformation Team in this exciting role.

As the Strategy and Policy Officer, you will be the council’s strategic policy lead and advisor across all council services, including Housing.  Your knowledge and ability to stay up to date with key local government and housing policy developments will allow you to advise the council on the likely impacts on the council.

Your work will be founded on using data, analysis and engagement with stakeholders and community at local, regional and national level.  You will develop, draft and monitor the delivery of policies and strategies in line with the council’s vision and priorities.  You will lead on sharing insights across the council that will support decision making.

With experience working collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders you will work effectively across all council teams to support the development of their policies and strategies. You need to be a detail-orientated professional with an enthusiasm for seeking out information and data to evidence service delivery and monitor the effectiveness of our delivery plans.  

The successful candidate will be a strong team player, with a track record of excellent written and verbal communication skills. No two days will be the same.

You will be based at our offices in Welwyn Garden City and will be expected to attend the office at least two days per week, subject to service needs.  

The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential in this post.
