Are you interested in leading a small but busy Property Services Legal Team overseeing a varied caseload of residential and commercial property matters? If so, we'd like to hear from you! 

You will play a significant role in providing expert legal advice to colleagues across the Council but in particular colleagues within the Council’s Regeneration and Estates teams.

We are looking for an exceptional solicitor or legal executive with significant experience of complex and high value commercial and residential property legal work. You will be an innovative thinker and a strong leader who is able to prioritise work, meet deadlines and work under pressure.

Property matters typically include commercial leases and renewals; land disposals and acquisitions; right to buy conveyances; residential tenancies; licenses and consents; and developments agreement of various types. 

This role requires someone:
- Who is a qualified solicitor or legal executive with at least 5 years post qualification experience 
- To have experience or knowledge of local government decision-making processes
- Who has experience of leading, managing and motivating a small team 
- Who can have conduct of a mixed caseload of complex and high-value commercial and residential property matters

The Legal Team sits within the Council’s Legal and Governance service which includes democratic services, elections and information governance.

We are a supportive team and keen to offer every team member opportunities to develop through mixed caseloads, training and more complex work by delegation from senior lawyers.

The ability to converse with ease with other staff and members of the public and to provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for this post.

This role is politically restricted.

The role is hybrid with the expectation of attending the office twice a week, dependent on service needs. You will attend more often during your training.
