Building Surveyors

37 hours per week (flexible working options available)

No two days are the same in Welwyn Hatfield’s Property Maintenance Team! If you like genuine diversity in your Building Surveying work and are looking to learn new skills, then we have a fantastic opportunity for you.

We’re seeking Surveyors in three key areas: Planned Works, Voids, and Repairs.

At Welwyn Hatfield we’re committed to providing excellent service to our community. We’re making a significant investment into our housing stock, creating a chance for you to engage in a variety of exciting new projects.

About the roles:

Planned Works Surveyor

As a Planned Works Surveyor, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the delivery of our planned and cyclical investment programmes to the housing and commercial stock.

This includes working alongside our contractors and consultants, holding them accountable for their performance, providing technical advice, developing scopes of work and specifications for various projects, and liaising with customers to understand their requirements.

Repairs Surveyor

In the role of Repairs Surveyor, you’ll manage your own patch, consisting of around 2000 properties.

You’ll collaborate with contractors and the Neighbourhoods team to ensure timely, high-quality repairs. Your responsibilities will include attending sites to scope out larger repair jobs and keeping tenants updated on ongoing works.

Voids Surveyor

As a Voids Surveyor, your focus will be on ensuring void properties are turned around quickly and to a high standard.

You’ll work closely with contractors, Neighbourhoods, and allocation teams to keep everyone informed about the status of each void, ensuring properties meet tenants' expectations.

About you:

A RICS qualification is not required, although you must be either formally qualified in Building Studies or have extensive experience in diagnosing building faults and delivering cost-effective solutions.

Your technical expertise will enable you to identify necessary repairs, develop detailed specifications, make sound technical decisions, and solve complex problems efficiently. A thorough understanding of current building regulations, building standards, and health and safety legislation is essential for these roles.

Your passion for delivering customer-focussed outcomes will be evident in your approach to work. You will have the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring that everyone involved understands the scope and progress of projects.

The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential in this post.
